Common Queries

What level are we starting at?

Level 5.

Is multiclassing allowed?

Of course!

Do I roll my hit points or take average?

Your choice. If you roll a 1, reroll; if you roll a 1 twice, fuck you, you get a 2.

Are we using point buy, standard array, or random number generation for ability scores?

For the oneshots, we're rolling 4d6, drop the lowest, reroll 1s. If this becomes a full-on campaign I might let you rework them.

What official books can we use?

Any.

Is homebrew allowed?

Send it to me and I'll look it over.

Can I make my character a race that flies/climbs?

Absolutely!

If by any chance I play ranger, could I know what the most common enemy in your world is?

For now, humanoids.

What’s the plot hook for the game?

Check out the Introduction. If you weren't in Primordial Bloom, you might wanna look at the Recap too.

What’s the current date in-world when we start?

26 Fadhydel 20008. Five years have passed since the rise of the Dragon King. It's mid-summer.

What kind of religions do people in-world follow?

The power of dragons is absolute. A rare few have begun worshipping the planet Veyarth herself, and even fewer have started a whispered religion surrounding the King of Storms. Those who draw power from the divine in a standard setting draw it instead from faith, be it in themselves, another, or a concept.

How about the theme? Horror, comedy, thriller?

Lighthearted adventures. I don't hesitate to delve into some scary concepts, but I respect player boundaries.

Can we grab feats instead of ability score improvements?

Absolutely.

How long do you think each session will be?

Three to four hours.

What kind of dungeon master are you? Should I expect a lot of roleplay, combat, or a mixture of both?

I try to keep things balanced.

Who are the other players in the game? What are they like? Do I know any of them? Are they friends of yours?

Look in the discord.

Any trigger warnings I should know about, or any that you’d like to know I have?

There might be some gross descriptions or monster concepts when things get serious. I don't run horror games, but I like being mean to my players sometimes. These games will contain a lot of gunplay, so if that's not something you're okay with, this really isn't for you.

Is there a chance our characters will get some downtime?

Between missions, probably.

How fast will our characters level up?

Whenever the hell we feel like it.

Speaking of leveling up, are we using XP or milestones?

Whatever the hell we feel like.

What’s the environment like in the world? Mostly water, sand, or grass?

Axel has some grasslands and forests, as well as some deserts.

Would you be against me playing an evil character?

Only if you're experienced enough to do it right.

Do you happen to use flanking mechanics?

No.

How about variant encumbrance?

Yes.

Are inspiration points going to be given out often?

You'll get a shot to earn one every session.

Is this a high magic / high gold world?

High magic, high gold.

Can I PVP with the other player characters at the table?

Only if we clear it with everyone first.

Where are we meeting up at?

Whatever VC is free.

What times and days do the games tend to start?

I like Saturdays at 17:00 EST, but it's flexible.

How much character backstory should I write?

As much as you like.

Will anything that I write actually matter?

Probably not.

Does the party care about team composition, and if so what are they missing?

Probably not, but I think it'd be fun to keep things varied. Pardon my selfishness, but I'd really like to see a sharpshooter or a bomber. Gabe is planning to play a shotgunner Artificer, and Aspen is playing a Warlock.

Sorry that was so fucking long. Close the book on this chapter, please.
