Common Queries

What level are we starting at?

Level 1.

Is multiclassing allowed?

Always.

Do I roll my hit points or take average?

Your choice. If you roll a 1, reroll; if you roll a 1 twice, fuck you, you get a 2.

Are we using point buy, standard array, or random number generation for ability scores?

Roll 4d6, drop lowest, reroll 1s. The Foundry command to generate an ability score is /roll 4d6r1kh3

Do that 6 times and sort your ability scores however you like.

What official books can we use?

Any.

Is homebrew allowed?

Custom races and backgrounds to fit the setting, run it by me and we'll whip something up together. Classes, no, subclasses, maybe.

Can I make my character a race that flies/climbs?

There are some in the world! :)

If by any chance I play ranger, could I know what the most common enemy in your world is?

Humanoids; particularly, ganonspawn.

What’s the plot hook for the game?

Check out the Introduction.

What’s the current date in-world when we start?

8 January 235 AC (After Calamity). Almost a week after the Tournament of Heroes.

What kind of religions do people in-world follow?

Worship of the Goddess Hylia is practically a standard in Hyrule. The Gerudo have a religion centered around respecting their ancestors, and there are followers of lesser deities like the Deku Tree scattered around the world.

How about the theme? Horror, comedy, thriller?

Things can get emotionally or physically intense, but I try to keep it lighthearted.

Can we grab feats instead of ability score improvements?

Absolutely.

How long do you think each session will be?

Three to four hours.

What kind of dungeon master are you? Should I expect a lot of roleplay, combat, or a mixture of both?

I try to keep things balanced. Roleplay will be more important here, though.

Who are the other players in the game? What are they like? Do I know any of them? Are they friends of yours?

Look in the discord forum.

Any trigger warnings I should know about, or any that you’d like to know I have?

There might be some gross descriptions or monster concepts when things get serious. I don't run horror games, but I like being mean to my players sometimes. The only actual injuries described will be the nastier ones the players might pick up.

Is there a chance our characters will get some downtime?

This campaign is nothing but downtime.

How fast will our characters level up?

Every 3 sessions or so.

Speaking of leveling up, are we using XP or milestones?

Session-based.

What’s the environment like in the world? Mostly water, sand, or grass?

Hyrule is a diverse place. There are snowy mountains in Hebra, grasslands in Hyrule Field, woods in Faron, volcanoes in Eldin, and a desert in Gerudo.

Would you be against me playing an evil character?

Last time that happened, we got Bode. So no, I guess.

Do you happen to use flanking mechanics?

No.

How about variant encumbrance?

Yes.

Are inspiration points going to be given out often?

You'll get a shot to earn one every session.

Is this a high magic / high gold world?

Low magic, moderate gold--rupees, that is.

Can I PVP with the other player characters at the table?

Only if we clear it with everyone first.

Where are we meeting up at?

Whatever VC is free.

What times and days do the games tend to start?

I like Saturdays at 17:00 EST, but it's flexible.

How much character backstory should I write?

As much as you like.

Will anything that I write actually matter?

I'll keep an eye out if we head to your backstory locations.

Does the party care about team composition, and if so what are they missing?

Probably not. Play what you like.

Enough of that B
